EA Sports Predicts 2009 Football Season with Madden NFL 10

Beer, chips, and HDTV’s, it must be Football season again. EA’s new edition to the Madden series, Madden NFL 10, is once again predicting the 2009 NFL season by simulating each team with their current rosters. They even have included individual rewards for the leading players in offense and defense. Enjoy the simulation below, but as usual none of these results are official or guaranteed to happen.

The 2009 NFL season will, once again, be ruled by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, according to the official Madden NFL 10 Season Simulation.  With the August 14th release of Madden NFL 10 less than 2 weeks away, EA SPORTS gazed into the crystal ball to predict the divisional winners and league leaders of the 2009 NFL season.

After missing nearly the entire 2008 season due to an injured left knee, Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to the best overall record (14-2) as he compiled over 4,500 yards and threw for 47 touchdowns – also being named the season MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.

The rest of the AFC played out similar to last season, as the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers won their divisions, while the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens secured the AFC Wild Card spots.  The biggest surprise was the performance of New York Jets rookie quarterback, Mark Sanchez, who took home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.  It was not enough, however, as the Jets once again failed to make the playoffs.

In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles returned to prominence, winning the toughest division (NFC East), thanks to a 12-4 record.  Andy Reid was awarded Coach of the Year.  The Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons prove that last year wasn’t a fluke as they took home their division crowns.  The Jay Cutler-led Chicago Bears will also rebound in a big way, taking the NFC North division.  The New York Giants and Carolina Panthers grabbed the NFC Wild Card spots.

NFL 2009 Season Awards (as simulated by Madden NFL 10):

  • NFL MVP – Tom Brady, New England Patriots
  • Offensive Player of the Year – Tom Brady, New England Patriots
  • Defensive Player of the Year – Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49ers
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year – Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year – Brian Orakpo, Washington Redskins
  • Coach of the Year – Andy Reid, Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL 2009 All-Pro Team:

  • Quarterback – Tom Brady, New England Patriots
  • Running Back
    • Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons
    • Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants
  • Wide Receiver
    • Randy Moss, New England Patriots
    • Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
  • Tight End – Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys
  • Offensive Line
    • Matt Light, New England Patriots
    • Shawn  Andrews, Philadelphia Eagles
    • Chris Snee, New York Giants
    • Logan Mankins, New England Patriots
    • Michael Roos, Tennessee Titans
  • Defensive Line
    • Trevor Pryce, Baltimore Ravens
    • Haloti Ngata, Baltimore Ravens
    • Kris Jenkins, New York Jets
    • Osi Umenyiora, New York Giants
  • Linebacker
    • Patrick Willis, San Francisco 49ers
    • Channing Crowder, Miami Dolphins
    • James Farrior, Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Defense Back
    • Brandon Meriweather, New England Patriots
    • Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders
    • Ed Reed, Baltimore Ravens
    • Donte Whitner, Buffalo Bills
  • Kicker – Josh Scobee, Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Punter – Brad Maynard, Chicago Bears
  • Kick Returner – Devin Hester, Chicago Bears
  • Punt Returner – Josh Cribbs, Cleveland Browns

So it appears the New England Patriots will be the team to beat this year, if you believe Madden NFL 10 that is.

DJ Hero, Activision’s form of Guitar Hero for DJ’s, will give those hoping to express their inner party-starter the chance to hone their skills on the turntables. Supplying players with a turntable-like controller, Activision hopes to create the same feeling players receive when playing with the guitar controller in their Guitar Hero series. The turntable includes a rotatable turntable with three buttons placed on top, an effects dial, and a crossfader. Also on the controller is the “Euphoria” button, which when pressed triggers a Star Power-like mode such as in Guitar Hero.

DJ Hero is set to appear on store shelves for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Wii on October 27.

Need For Speed Nitro races onto shelves Nov. 17

Electronic Arts will release their upcoming racer on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii this November 17th.  Nitro is designed to offer “fun and intense competition for every type of gamer”, and is specifically made for the casual-gamer side rather than the hardcore-gamer fan base. This new addition to the Need for Speed series adds the police to the scene to make it just a little bit harder for you to finish your race. Too bad there is no Dunkin’ Donuts to use as bait!

There are different race types in Nitro, such as circuit, sprints, and knockout. Races feature up to 12 players, and have many feature icons such as repairs for your car, or increasing an opponent’s wanted level.

Need for Speed: Nitro is being developed by EA Montreal, and will hit stores on November 17th for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. Nitro is currently priced for preorder at $39.9, but is subject to change.

Black Nintendo Wii Can’t See America

More depressing news for those of us in America, no Black version of the Nintendo Wii for the United States.

After a Nintendo rep informed GameDaily, it appears that the only possible way to lay our hands on the new look to Nintendo’s popular console is to get it from Japan.

GameDaily reports:

We contacted a Nintendo representative as to when and if this sexy system will arrive Stateside, and he says there are “no plans to have other colors of Wii in the U.S.”

So why a reason for this? No statement was given, but one can see that it could possibly be a scheme developed by the high-ups at Nintendo to give the new version some sort of hype so that when they do announce it, the console sells well.

What are your thoughts?
